March Mask Roundup

Last month, I bought a ton of different sheet masks that I had never tried before in an effort to spend all of my remaining Memebox points, while taking advantage of their sale. Honestly, I’ve been pretty lazy with using sheet masks in the past. I got mostly mediocre results from the few that I had tried and decided to just focus on actives like chemical exfoliants instead for my skin. Then the Memebox sale happened, and I picked up literally 21 different masks that I had never tried before, because there wasn’t a lot on the site that I was interested in and it felt like a waste not to spend my points. To add to the mask madness, I ended up buying a few Naruko masks later that month from r/asianbeautyexchange as well! I’ve tried most of the new masks I’ve bought by now so I thought I would provide my thoughts.

Some good news and bad news. Good news- I was pleasantly surprised to find a couple of masks that I really, really liked. Bad news- I’m buying a lot more sheet masks than I did before! 😥

Anyway, onto my mini reviews. These are sorted in roughly the same order as I used them. Sorry for the lack of pictures and walls of text- sadly I’m not very good at shooting attractive pictures of masks. If you’d like to see what a mask looks like, please just click the Amazon/eBay/whatever link to look at the packaging.

P.S. None of the links below, including Amazon, are affiliate links- I’m just a long-time Prime user and I love it! Also, if the masks are cheaper or comparably priced on Amazon, I won’t bother linking eBay. But most of these masks should be available from numerous retailers, so I’d recommend looking around on a couple of sites before purchasing. The links I’ve provided are mostly intended to just give you a frame of reference for how much the masks cost.

AprilSkin Mermaid Hydrogel Mask

  • My first hydrogel mask! This is actually the second one I’ve purchased from Memebox. Nice fit, not much fragrance. This was decently hydrating and felt very refreshing.
  • Would not repurchase again. I originally gave these a 4/5 rating but decided to knock it down a little as I’ve found other more hydrating masks for way cheaper.
  • Rating: 3.5/5 (More in-depth review here on my IG.)
  • Buy this at: Amazon ($23.99 for 5), eBay (Various prices, usually cheaper than Amazon)

AprilSkin Mummy Mud Mask

  • Nice fit, not much fragrance. I had low expectations for this as the clay masks I’ve tried (the famous ones from Innisfree and Queen Helene) haven’t yielded great results for me, but this actually made my pores less visible!
  • Wish I could repurchase a bunch. I really like these as they are more effective for me and less messy than traditional clay masks, but they’re too pricey for me to use on a regular basis.
  • Rating: 4/5
  • Buy this at: Amazon ($23.95 for 5), eBay (Various prices, usually cheaper than Amazon)

Benton Snail Bee High Content Mask Pack

  • Okay fit, not much fragrance. This didn’t do too much for me outside of delivering some hydration. Wasn’t too surprised since other Benton products have been a dud for me in the past.
  • Would not repurchase.
  • Rating: 2.5/5
  • Buy this at: Amazon ($17.88 for 10)

Mediheal N.M.F. Aquaring Ampoule Mask

  • Nice fit, not much fragrance. This was pretty basic but did a good job with hydration.
  • Would not repurchase but only because there are other hydrating masks I like more. Otherwise this is a pretty good everyday mask for hydration.
  • Rating: 3/5
  • Buy this at: Amazon ($13.60 for 10)

Naruko Raw Job’s Tears Supercritical CO2 Pore Minimizing & Brightening Mask

  • Holy shit, this is actually my first HG sheet mask.  I love it so much. First Naruko mask I’ve ever tried and it blew me away. The fit was the best I’ve ever had with a sheet mask and I was able to easily leave this on my face for an hour. There was a yeasty smell that I didn’t love but it wasn’t unpleasant. I didn’t actually notice that much pore minimizing, but it gave me really amazing results in terms of hydration and brightening. Hmm, now I’m interested in the rest of the Raw Job’s Tears line…
  • Yes, I’ve already repurchased an entire box! So glad these are relatively affordable!
  • Rating: 5/5!
  • Buy this at: Naruko’s official store on eBay ($15.99 for 10- These were $13.99, but Naruko raised their prices recently), Naruko’s official store ($25.99 for 10, but they run frequent sales)

Naruko Snail Essence Intense Hydra Repair Mask

  • Great fit, not much fragrance but… oh god. The essence is way too thick and slimy for me. It gave me really good results in terms of hydration and brightening, but (luckily for me) the Job’s Tears mask is still superior. I was actually surprised that this performed so well because snail doesn’t usually do anything for me. I can also leave this on my face for close to an hour without the mask drying out.
  • Would not repurchase, but that’s because I personally can’t stand the sliminess. Still a very good mask, hence the rating below.
  • Rating: 4/5
  • Buy this at: Naruko’s official store on eBay ($14.99 for 10- These were $13.99, but Naruko raised their prices recently), Naruko’s official store ($22.99 for 10, but they run frequent sales)

Naruko Rose and Botanic HA Aqua Cubic Hydrating Mask

  • Great fit again, this has a light, very natural rose fragrance. This did a really great job with hydration and I love rose-scented products so this is another winner for me. After the Raw Job’s Tears, this is my favorite Naruko mask out of the four I’ve tried.
  • Yes, I’ve already repurchased an entire box!
  • Rating: 4.5/5
  • Buy this at: Naruko’s official store on eBay ($15.99 for 10- These were $13.99, but Naruko raised their prices recently), Naruko’s official store ($26.99 for 10, but they run frequent sales)

Naruko Narcissus Repairing Mask

  • Great fit like all the Naruko masks I’ve tried, not much fragrance. This gave me decent results with hydration and some brightening but I had better results with the other three Naruko masks above. Again, I can leave this on my face for close to an hour without the mask drying out (seems to be a trend with Naruko).
  • Would not repurchase as the Raw Job’s Tears and Rose masks are superior for me.
  • Rating: 3.5/5
  • Buy this at: Naruko’s official store on eBay ($15.99 for 10), Naruko’s official store ($27.99 but for 10, they run frequent sales)

Lindsay Purifying Charcoal All in One Modeling Mask, Standing Pouch

  • The second modeling mask I’ve tried, also from Lindsay. Not much fragrance. I much prefer the ones where the powder comes in a cup- the standing pouch was a lot messier and it was hard to mix water into the nooks and crannies of the bag. The spatula was also stored directly in the pouch inside the powder, so getting it out was slightly annoying. I did like the spatula in the pouch more than the one in the cup, though- the other one didn’t work too well and I ended up using my fingers, but this one was larger and worked much better. On results, this modeling mask performed pretty well (slightly better than the AprilSkin Mummy Mud Mask) and noticeably reduced the appearance of my pores! My skin did feel a little bit dry but it wasn’t too bad. My skin also felt smoother.
  • Would repurchase if this was in different packaging and cheaper. (I know Lindsay has a charcoal modeling mask that also comes in a cup- not sure if that’s just newer packaging or a different formula.) Prices of Lindsay modeling masks seem to vary wildly. They are relatively affordable on Memebox but are very pricey on other sites like eBay.
  • Rating: 3.5/5
  • Buy this at: Memebox ($3 each), eBay (Various prices)

Lindsay Hyaluronic Acid All in One Modeling Mask, Standing Pouch

  • Same situation- the standing pouch was pretty messy. This one smelled a little bit herbal, like tea tree. Strangely, the hyaluronic acid version came with a different spatula, one that had a little scoop on the other side instead of just a flat handle. I did not like this version as it made the spatula annoying to grip on to. Results were good once again, just like with the charcoal version! I did notice that this one made my skin more dry though (my face felt slightly squeaky as I rinsed the remaining bits of the mask off).
  • Again, would repurchase if this was in different packaging and cheaper- see my comments for the charcoal version above.
  • Rating: 3.5/5
  • Buy this at: eBay (Various prices)

Tosowoong Pure Aloe Mask

  • Decent fit, noticeable perfume-y fragrance. The material was a little on the stiffer side so it bunched up a little on the sides of my face. This gave me okay results with hydration but wasn’t soothing. I had a zit that remained red even after the mask was on my face for close to an hour.
  • Would not repurchase.
  • Rating: 2.5/5
  • Buy this at: Amazon ($16.75 for 10)

Tosowoong Pure Propolis Mask

  • Decent fit, noticeable honey-like fragrance. This smelled pretty good! The material was a little on the stiffer side so it bunched up a little on the sides of my face. This gave me pretty good results with hydration and brightening, but half an hour after I took it off, my face became very red and warm. 😐 I’m not 100% positive that it was due to this mask, but I didn’t use any other completely new products in my routine that night, so if I had to take a guess…
  • Would not repurchase in case my skin did have a reaction to it, but otherwise it is a very good budget mask.
  • Rating: 3.5/5 (Would be higher, if not for potential reaction)
  • Buy this at: Amazon ($15.25 for 10)

Tosowoong Pure Green Tea Mask

  • Decent fit, noticeable perfume-y fragrance. Again, the material was a little on the stiffer side so it bunched up a little on the sides of my face. This gave me pretty good results with hydration and brightening.
  • Would not repurchase but only because there are other hydrating masks I like more.
  • Rating: 4/5
  • Buy this at: Amazon ($16.70 for 10)

Pony Effect Luminous Boosting Mask Pack

  • Great fit, strong perfume-y fragrance. I’ll say upfront that I really like Pony and her videos, but I didn’t like this mask. The fit and fabric were really good, but the results were sub-par for me. I didn’t notice much hydration and the mask left a lot of residue on my face that felt slightly oily.
  • Would not repurchase.
  • Rating: 2/5
  • Buy this at: Memebox ($27.50 for 10)

Papa Recipe Bombee Honey Mask

  • Great fit, noticeable but delicious fragrance. To me, this doesn’t really smell like honey, but almost something like a combination of honey, apples, and cinnamon. The fit and fabric were both very nice! I saw really good results with hydration and brightening.
  • Yes, would repurchase!
  • Rating: 4.5/5
  • Buy this at: Amazon ($19.30 for 10), eBay (Various prices, usually cheaper than Amazon)

Papa Recipe Bombee Black Honey Mask

  • Good fit, has the same or almost the same fragrance as the regular honey mask. I think this one had slightly smaller eye holes, so I had to make a few cuts so it was more comfortable. Unfortunately I didn’t like this one as much as the original. The results were not as good for me as the regular version.
  • Would not repurchase.
  • Rating: 3/5
  • Buy this at: Amazon ($15.40 for 10)

And that’s it for now! I have a bunch more I plan to review for April, but I thought this post was big enough as is already. If you have any new masks you discovered last month, or favorite masks in general, I’d love to know! 🙂
